The SABATIER AINE & PERRIER company specializes in the manufacture of 100% forged kitchen knives. It has existed for over 220 years and is run by the eighth generation of the Sabatier family.
After the First World War, the company stopped manufacturing regional pocket knives, despite a very extensive catalog as shown in the company's archives.
Pocket knives were very diverse and were made for stores in France, as well as abroad.
Since that time, the company has only been making kitchen knives for professionals.
Philippe BOURNILHAS has decided to return to the production of a pocket knife. The idea was to offer a regional knife from Auvergne.
For Auvergnats and the inhabitants or lovers of the Puy-de-Dôme department, Puy-de-Dôme is a very important symbol, as well as the Chaîne des Puys which is now part of the World Heritage of Humanity.
The idea was to make a pocket knife blade representing the Puy-de-Dôme and the Chaîne des Puys.
Thanks to laser cutting, this cutting was possible. It was necessary to use specific technologies to polish the back and its particular design.
